Here’s the October Box – Part 1 blog post.

The October Box 🖤

Let’s start with a win.

For the nightwear choice, I picked a pyjama set from the “Luxe Woven” collection in the Kiku pattern. Here’s the trousers, with a plain black top:

I chose the Luxe Woven Back Secret Support T-Shirt – Kiku and the Luxe Woven Trouser – Kiku.

I absolutely ADORE the trousers. They’re soft, comfortable, stylish and the perfect length. They have an elasticated waist and I am totally in love with the pattern. They have an almost satiny feel to them whilst still being soft and not shiny; like silky linen, or non-stretch cotton.

Back view of Luxe Woven Back Secret Support T-Shirt – Kiku and Luxe Woven Trouser – Kiku

How cuuuuuuuute is the back of the matching top?! It’s the same silky soft material and I just adore the pattern.

The front of the top is soft, stretch jersey cotton, and underneath is a hidden support bralet. The edge of the v-neck is lined with the same cute Kiku pattern. 👌

Being brutally honest, I know, shock horror – me being a cheeky B 😂 the top is not something I’d usually go for. As my waist is about 10 inches smaller than my bust, I like my tops fitted, or shaped, so that I don’t look “boxy”. However, these are PJs at the end of the day and they’re flipping cute! I may not have bought them for myself, but I’m happy to have been gifted them.

Close up of the October Box

Velour Pyjamas in Berry, Charcoal, Teal and Black – each word is a link to the different colours available 🥰

Now, the fail 😩 the Velour Pyjama Set – Berry from The Helen Flanagan Edit. Absolutely STUNNING. The most luxurous velvety loveliness, unfortunately didn’t fit me well. I am just being MASSIVELY fussy here. I’m sureeeee you’re so sick of hearing me say “I’m so between sizes”… well, in the Pour Moi size guide, I’m right between a size 18 and a size 20.

I went for a size 18, and realistically, I should’ve got a 20. The trousers were quite snug on my thighs and there wasn’t enough room from crutch to waist for me – meaning I’d either have to wear them low and they’d dig into my love handles, or high and they’d be uncomfortable. I am 5ft 10, so I’d say if you’re shorter than me, they’d be absolutely fine to size down in! The top was a tad on the generous size, for me, as I like my tops fitted – as I mentioned before, I’m a bit obsessed with “not looking boxy” 🙄 honestly, I despair of myself sometimes. When I look at the collage I made above of the four different colours, the photo of the charcoal is not too dissimilar to how the top looked on me. I think if I could, I’d have swapped the top for a 16 and the bottoms for a 20. However, they come as a matching set. If I was a normal human, I’d have swapped it for a size 20 and shut my mouth about it, but hey… I’m not 😂

But, what this meant was I got to pick a different nightwear set, and well, I cannot tell you how glad I was an annoying fuss pot, because I got THE GREATEST loungewear/PJ set everrrrrrrrrrrr.

This beautiful set is from the Sofa Loves collection. I got the Sofa Love Cross Strapped Long Sleeve Top – Navy and the Sofa Loves Lace Trouser – Navy. WELL, I have been living in the set. It’s meant to be “luxury pyjamas” but I say pfft! I have been wearing them as loungewear, and even on evening video calls with friends 😂

The material is the softest, bounciest luxurious jersey stretch viscose. The trousers have pockets and a really comfortable elasticated waist. I adore the back detail on the top and it has the cutest little pocket on the front.

So, actually, I’m saying, both of these sets (the Sofa Loves collection and the Velour Pyjama Set) are utterly brilliant. Both ideal loungewear and pyjamas.

LASTLY, the pièce de résistance is the Rebel Strapless Padded Underwired Body – Black. If you follow me on Instagram (ahem, please follow me on instagram), you will have seen this in heavy rotation. I absolutely ADORE it. I sister sized, because real talk, I was insanely jealous of the other ambassadors wearing bodysuits.

I usually shy away from bodysuits, as I’m a size 20/22 bust, a size 14-18 waist and a size 18/20 hips, I just never think they’ll fit. I’m usually a 34H/HH, so I should’ve got a 36GG. I tried on a 36G in the shop, and as my boobs are “bottom heavy” it fit perfectlyyyyyy. The bodysuit is a tiiiiny bit snug, as a 38 would better suit my hips (realistically a 38G or a 36GG would be my sister size, but I needed the tightness of the 36 for the built in bra to give me enough support). Anyway, if all of that is as clear as mud, let’s just say I faffed around, and it’s great.

Detailsssss Rebel Strapless Padded Underwired Body – Black

As I’ve already mentioned, if you have a look on my Instagram, there’s several photos of me styling this beautiful body suit. I’ve always loved “underwear as outerwear” and WELL this has really cemented that love.

Yep, I’m obsessed. It’s also really comfortable.

I wouldn’t wear it strapless, as I reaaaaally need straps for support, but it’s just one of my favourite things so far.

So, all in all this month has been a RAGING success. I’ve got some beautiful staple pieces for my wardrobe, and I’m so grateful!

I adore adore adore everything, and I’ve worn them all multiple times now. They’ve washed well and they’re just so flipping comfortable.

Happy Catty!!

“Just think positively!” Why it’s so hard to dismiss negative thoughts.

As humans we have what’s called a negative cognitive bias. When we’re in our “fight or flight” mode, especially. If you’ve never heard of the adrenaline reaction or the “fight or flight” mode, check out my blog post about it here. It’s just a 3 or 4 minute read/introduction to anxiety and the adrenaline reaction. Alternatively, here’s an encyclopedia entry about it. Yeah, Science!

So, what am I on about, a negative cognitive bias? A bias or “to be biased” means to have a prejudice or a liking for something (usually an unfair liking!). Cognitive means relating to, or involving the process of thinking and/or reasoning. Therefore, a negative cognitive bias does what it says on the tin, it basically means that as humans our brains are naturally looking out for/biased towards negative thinking.

This is why it’s one of my pet peeves when people say “just think positively”. Because, as humans it is literally impossible for us to think positively all the time. We can’t just cross a road and think positively that we’re unlikely to get hit by a car; we still have to “stop, look and listen”. We have to risk assess every time we put one foot in front of the other or do something.

This month sees the launch of TWO celeb edits, and let me tell you, they are GORGEOUS!! Firstly, there’s the IndiaLovesPourMoi Collection and then there’s The Helen Flanagan Edit.

I chose the Rebel Strapless Padded Underwired Body – Black, from the The Helen Flanagan Edit I chose the Velour Pyjama Set and then we got to choose a set from the “new in” nightwear and I picked from the “Luxe Woven” collection in Kiku pattern.

The Rebel Strapless Body is just SO gorgeous! I’m so excited to get my hands on a bodysuit, as I’ve seen the other ambassadors styling them in so many different ways, and I’ve always been a big fan of “underwear as outerwear”. I sister sized in this and it fits an absolute dream, because I cheekily popped to the Pour Moi shop in Chester to try some on. Watch this space for a million different outfits featuring this, I cannot wait!

The Velour Pyjama Set – Berry from The Helen Flanagan Edit just looks SO comfy and cosy 💞 they’re just £33.60 when you use my code 𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗠𝟮𝟬 and they’re available in Berry, Charcoal, Teal and Black.

Finally, I chose a pyjama set from the “Luxe Woven” collection in the Kiku pattern.

I chose the Luxe Woven Back Secret Support T-Shirt – Kiku and the Luxe Woven Trouser – Kiku.

They’re both available is size 8-22 and are just £19.20 for the trousers and £17.60 for the top with the code 𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗠𝟮𝟬.

They’re just so stylish, I had to pop them on, as they’re so so silky soft!!

Anxiety 101 why do I feel scared?

You may have heard of something called the “fight or flight” response.

As humans, we have a “danger mode”. When our brain senses that we’re in danger, it triggers off a set of chemicals and our body reacts:

The Mental Health Handbook © T Powell 2009

This is great if, say for example, we’re crossing the street and a car comes belting round the corner and we need to jump back on to the curb sharpish.

Our body’s natural reaction to danger is to get our body ready to run away or to fight. If we think of caveman times, we needed to defend ourselves against wild animals and run away from dangers too big for us to fight.

It’s often called the adrenaline reaction or the “fight or flight” reaction, and some people experience “freeze” or “appease” too. In modern life it’s still useful… imagine you’re in a room and someone comes bursting through the door shouting and being very threatening. If you’re able to, you might push past them and run away – the flee or flight response. Alternatively, you might need to defend yourself, whether verbally or physically, you may need to fight. Sometimes, it’s more appropriate to wait, or to freeze – see what happens and how it pans out before making a knee jerk reaction, or just curl up in a ball under the desk and protect your head. Lastly, it might be sensible to go along with whatever this person wants, do as they say, put your hands up in the air and tell them that you’ll give them your wallet.

Different situations could mean different reactions, and different people often have different reactions to the same situation.

So, with anxiety and our body’s reaction – we feel anxious or scared when our brain tells us that we’re in danger. The problem is that that part of our brain (the amygdala) doesn’t know the size of the danger or how likely it is. Really, that part of our brain doesn’t even know if a danger is real or imagined, it doesn’t know if it’s a past danger, a current danger or a future based danger. It doesn’t know the difference between any of these things.

This means we can get caught up feeling scared or anxious about something that might not happen, something that is unlikely to happen, something that’s future based… but our brain and our body react as if that danger is real, present and definite, and we need to act. Sometimes our “fight or flight” response is said to be operating a “better safe than sorry” approach.

We can really struggle in these situations, as our brain is screaming at us to do something about a danger, but often it’s difficult to make a decision or do something when something hasn’t happened yet. PLUS, going back to the standing in the middle of the road example, how well can be think and problem solve when we’re in dangerous situations? We don’t stand in the middle of the road and question “is that car going 20 or 40mph” and “should I walk over here to the right, or run over there to the left?” not normally, we usually act on impulse or have to make a decision very fast to shift our butts. It’s not often possible to think calmly and rationally whilst our brain is in danger mode.

Anxiety can often be made worse by our reaction to it. If we’re scared of anxiety, or if we are frustrated or annoyed with ourselves about anxiety, what’s going to happen to our anxiety levels? Will they go up or down? Often, it can create a vicious cycle that anxiety makes us scared or anxious, so our brain and our body detect danger and we get more scared and/or more anxious – PHEW.

My step one tip, is that knowledge is power with anxiety. Have a look online at the biology and psychology of fear and anxiety. Understanding that anxiety is useful and normal can be really beneficial.

My step two tip, is to give yourself a break. Anxiety is normal, and beating yourself up about the way you feel, is going to make you feel worse. I really love this 3 minute video by Dr. Russ Harris about “The Struggle Switch“.

I hope you found the quick introduction useful, and I’ll be writing more soon.

Pour Moi – September Box

I may have mentioned, I have a discount code for Pour Moi. You can use 𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗠𝟮𝟬 for 20% off on full price / non-sale items on their website – KERCHING. I don’t get commission from that code, but all these items are gifted, so this is an ad. All writing in blue is a link 🖤

I cannot believe September is almost over and I’m only just writing this! OOOOOPS. I have spent every weekend this month either celebrating my birthday or chilling at the beach! It’s been wonderful, but not left me with much time to sit down and write.

Well, anyway… This month’s choices were SO epic and the box also included a couple of goodies!

Surprises from redcherry eyelashes and Dr. PAWPAW!

Included in this month’s box was some beautiful lashes from redcherry lashes in Sage and Dr. PAWPAW sent Tinted Peach Pink Balm, more on those later!

So, the Pour Moi items… Firstly, I got to choose another swimwear item or set.

I chose a bikini from the Sol Beach collection. I chose the Sol Beach Underwired Rope Top and the Sol Beach Foldover Brief.

This is THE best bikini I have ever owned. The material is thick and textured and just looks so high quality.

The top is super supportive, super cute and it is SO comfortable. I wore it 3 weeks ago to the beach (and last week too ha!), and I had it on for 11 hours without even really realising! When I got home, I kept thinking to myself, I must take this off, and kept forgetting ha! Supports like a bra, but so comfortable, no sore shoulders or digging on the sides.

You may have seen my instagram absolutely littered with this, as it’s just a perfect piece. Stylish and slightly different, but classic black so really versatile.

Sol Beach Underwired Rope Top

The bikini bottoms are super comfortable too, and the bottoms hide a multitude of sins and the material is just the right thickness. Not so thick they’re too warm in the sun, but supportive and slightly “holdy-in-y”. J’adore.

Then I got to choose an item of beachwear!

I chose Textured Print Wide Leg Trouser – Black/White and of course, I combined them with the bikini top 🖤

They’ve got a split up the side and a lovely deep waistband. True to size, comfortable and so stylish! Perfect beachwear, but totally good for summer trousers too!

Then I got to pick a Lingerie Set, Body, or Chemise from either Rebel , St Tropez, Flora, Twist, Rewind or Charnos.

I initially chose this beautiful set from the Rewind collection

The Rewind Underwired Bra and the Rewind Brazilian Brief

I absolutely adored the look of the double layer mesh under the bra. Also, I am a SUCKER for blue. It’s one of my favourite colours.

Unfortunately, as my boobs are “bottom heavy”, the shape of the bra didn’t suit me. I need plunge or balconette style bras, and although it looks like a plunge or a 3/4 cup bra in the photo on the website, it’s quite a full cup style. I was quite upset, as it’s honestly so so beautiful. The detailing is amazing and the colour!! The knickers also fit perfectly. If your boobs are even fullness, I’d really recommend this, it’s utterly stunning.

So, the Rewind collection was swapped for a Charnos set and I chose an Opera set

Opera Lightly Padded Balconette Bra
Opera Suspender – Black
Opera High Leg Brief – Black

I am so impressed with this set. It fits A DREAM (I got a 34H in the bra, as all the reviews say that it comes up large in the cup) and an 18 in the suspender and the knickers.

Opera set by Charnos

The set comes in black or white with choices of 3 bras in balconette, full cup and strapless and a choice in underwear of deep brief or high leg brief. There’s also a bodysuit, which is a bodyshaper.

Isn’t it beautiful!

The bra is great, I love that it’s balconette (as already mentioned – perfect for my shape), and it has the visible lace edges to soften it.

I adore how classic it is, but also the detailing is just so beautiful.

The dot effect and the lace together is so pretty. It’s not something that I ever would have pictured together, but I think it’s really elegant. Stylish and classy!

I love the hook and eye front fastening on the suspender belt too – it’s just gorgeous.

All in all, September’s box was an absolute win! I’m yet to try the lashes, but the lip balm is absolutely divine, and I’ve been using it often!

All the items have been gifted, so this is an ad, but all the opinions are my own and honest!

What’s happening right now? An introduction to mindfulness.

If you’ve heard of mindfulness, you may have images of Buddist monks, hippies saying “ommm” and thinking “if a tree falls in the woods, and no-one is around to hear it; does it make a sound?”.

There’s often a stereotype of mindfulness about tranquility, emptying your mind and completely blocking everything out.

Mindfulness, meditation and other practices in a similar vein are all quite complex techniques/theories. For example, in order to consider yourself a “mindfulness practitioner” in my day job, you have to do an 8 week course on it and practise daily for 2 years.

What I will be explaining here is some distraction and mindfulness techniques that are informed by mindfulness/meditation practices. This is just a whistle stop tour of couple of my favourites, and it’s quite simplified.

Modern mindfulness is about paying attention to the here and now in a specific way. When we struggle with anxiety/stress/worry or low mood/depression, we can be drawn into the future or pulled into the past with our thinking.

Say for example I go for a walk and it’s raining a bit. As I’m walking along, I may start to think things such as “I knew I shouldn’t have come for a walk in this rain”, “why didn’t I wear my other shoes”, “would’ve been good to bring an umbrella” or “I probably could’ve done with a warmer coat”. I might also think about what’s going to happen later “urgh, I’m going to have to change my socks and trousers when I get in”, “have I got time for a shower before my lunch?” or “I’m going to look like a drowned rat when I get back”. These are simple examples of ruminating about the past – what we shoulda woulda coulda done, and worrying or thinking about the future. Pretty normal. Worry and rumination are part of life, we all do it. The trouble comes when it becomes excessive, or when it causes us distress.

If you’re struggling with anxiety and/or depression, the one thing I can highly recommend is some therapy. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is my favourite, but people find great sources of comfort and help in all sorts of talking and computerised therapies. You can speak to your GP about therapy, or you can google “IAPT” and your local town to find out about services in your area – lots of them are self-referral, but some you have to be referred by your GP. Therapy is a journey for most people, and finding the right kind of therapy, at the right time, for the right problem, with the right therapist can be a bit tricky. If you’ve tried before and didn’t like it, I’d urge you to try again.

So, these tips and tricks are not meant to be a cure or used in place of proper advice and/or therapy, but I hope that some of these strategies and techniques can help most people.

The title of this blog post might’ve given something away. A quick trick is to ask yourself “what’s happening right now?”. Grounding yourself in the moment can really help those worrisome and ruminative thoughts to fade away. Importantly, mindfulness is not about getting rid of our thoughts. It’s about having a different relationship with them. If I ask you, now, to not think about a yellow penguin… what do you do? Most people can’t help but think about a yellow penguin. If you’re really good at thought suppression and/or distraction you might be able to think about something else, but why are you doing that? So you don’t think about a yellow penguin… so you’re still thinking about a yellow penguin really.

I tend to use the words grounding, mindfulness and distraction interchangeably; as they’re all achieving a similar thing. Refocusing your attention. That’s it, nothing that fancy or hard. She laughs maniacally behind the keyboard. Mindfulness is HARD. It is a skill, and it is something that takes practise and patience to get “good at”. The irony being; if you beat yourself up about it and overthink it too much, you won’t be able to do it effectively. Now, try and remember this, try and accept that mindfulness is a journey and a difficult technique, but as long as you are recognising and re-focusing your attention – you’re doing it right. Our minds wander and produce 1000s of thoughts naturally, this is about having a different relationship with that flipping yellow penguin. It’s OK, it’s normal. We don’t need to fight it, we don’t need to get rid of it, we don’t need to stop it, we don’t need to judge it. Any thought, any memory, any worry, any image… notice it and re-focus your attention.

Alright, let’s get to the good bit and back to “what’s happening right now?”. Trick number one – engage your senses. SMELL. SIGHT. SOUND/HEARING. TOUCH. TASTE.

Slowly and carefully, look around and name 5 things you can SEE – in detail. Describe the colours, the shape, the size, the makeup of the different parts. If you can see a door: is it wooden, plastic, white, brown? What colour is the handle, what shape is the handle? Is it a smooth or a panelled door, does it have panelling or strips of metal anywhere? Have you got a drink nearby? What is it? What’s it in? What colour is it? How much is left? Does it have bubbles, are there ripples in the liquid?
Now reach out and TOUCH 4 things nearby. Think about the textures, the temperature, the feel. This can be the clothes you’re wearing, the chair you’re sitting on or a nearby water bottle or anything! See if you can really notice any differences within an object. Water bottles are great for this if the lid is a different texture or material to the bottle, for example, or you can squeeze it.
Then stop and LISTEN. What can you hear? Any traffic sounds, clocks ticking, taps dripping, people breathing, music playing? If possible, name 3.
Can you SMELL anything? If you can, try and name 2, even if it’s your deodorant and the smell of your clothes (fabric softener or detergent!). You could add in TASTE here too, reach out to your drink and smell it or take a sip of a drink, really focus on the temperature, the texture, the feel of it.
Finally, place your hands on your stomach and take 1 slow deep breath. Breathe in for 4, hold for 1 and breathe out for 4.

This exercise can be called the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 exercise for short. You can do it fast or slow. You can mix and match with the senses. You can name 6 things you can see and touch 8 things and listen to 2 things and smell 4 things – that’s OK. Use it however works for you, practice and play around with it.

Next one! Remember my grumpy, soggy walk? Let’s imagine for a moment that I’ve got a child with me on that walk.

She says “weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! A puddle!!”, “oh my, look at that duck over there”, “oh wow, look at the shape of that cloud!”. She might be having fun and running around, but what’s also happening is she is in the moment. The next mindfulness strategy is looking at the world through the eyes of a child. Go for a walk and put your phone in your pocket. Really look at the colours and the shapes of the trees, the clouds, the grass. We can even build in the sensory stuff here. What can you smell, what can you hear, what colour is the ground?

We can do any activity mindfully, by using this sensory trick, even something as mundane as the washing up. When we do tasks that don’t require much thinking, sometimes that’s a cue for our brain to start wandering off and thinking about the next thing or the last thing. Again, we can use “what’s happening right now?”, really focusing our attention on the plate we’re picking up, noticing and describing what we’re doing with our hands. What does the water feel like? The temperature, the texture, is it greasy, squeaky? Are there bubbles? What do they look like? What does your washing up liquid smell like?

Give it a go! Mindfulness can really help reduce anxiety and reduce rumination. It’s a fantastic skill that can really make you appreciate the little things and be more present in the moment. You know those car/bus journeys you do so often that by the time you’re at the destination you can’t remember the trip? It’s often because your mind was elsewhere or because the journey is so mundane it doesn’t require much attention or thought and we just don’t remember it. So, not only can mindfulness help you to pay attention, it can also improve your memory!

Pour Moi – August Box – Part 2

First things first – my discount code is CATM20 and that gives you 20% off all full priced items on the Pour Moi website.

Here’s my first blog post about it, and here’s August – Part 1. As always, anything in blue writing is a link 💙 If you’ve read the first post; you’ll know that, unfortunately, I didn’t like the swimming costume I chose (oops! I’m so awkward) and the chemise from the Rebel Collection was utterly divine, but NSFW for photos teehee.

SO! My August Box content changed! First I got to swap the swimming costume for a STUNNNNING bikini from Pour Moi‘s “Sea Breeze” collection.

A bikini from Pour Moi‘s “Sea Breeze” collection

In the “Sea Breeze” collection there’s 4 different styles of tops, tankinis, swimsuits and 3 different briefs… in WAIT FOR IT… three different colours/patterns!

I went with the “Green/Black/Coral” colour/design and I got:
The “Sea Breeze Longline Underwired Top – Green/Black/Coral“, it’s £30 (you can use CATM20 for 20% off full price items). I got a size 36G (sister sized and down a cup as it’s quite a “full cup” style and my boobs are quite bottom heavy, and I prefer to sister size in swimwear, so it’s not quite so tight on my back/ribs). It’s available 32-38 back sizes and C-H cups.

The “Sea Breeze Spot Fold Over Brief – Green/Black/Coral“, it’s £18 (you can use CATM20 for 20% off full price items). I got the size 18s, and they’re available in sizes 10-22.

Remix” collection set with Side Support Underwired Bra and deep brief

Second, I swapped my chemise from the Rebel Collection for a “Remix” set.

In the Remix collection, there’s a few choices; there’s two different bras, two different briefs, a bodyshaper bodysuit and a basque in this collection. They’re available in white, champagne and black.

I decided to go with the “Champagne” colour, as I thought it’d be a great edition to my wardrobe to wear underneath pale colours and white.

FUN FACT! Did you know peachy or red if you’re pale skinned and tan or brown if you’re dark skinned will show less under white clothes than a white bra!

Lightly Padded Underwired Bra & High Leg Brief

I chose the Remix Side Support Underwired Bra – Cappuccino in a size 34HH and the Remix High Leg Brief – Cappuccino in a size 18 (available in size 8-18). The Remix collection is available in 32-42 back sizes and D-J cups and sizes 8-22.

Thinking Face on Google Android 11.0

Have I mentioned you can use CATM20 for 20% off full price items? 😉

My final choice from the August box was a Statement set from “Contradiction by Pour Moi“. There’s 6 different options in the “statement” collection, two different bras, two different briefs, a suspender belt and a bodysuit 👌🏻

I got:
The Statement Underwired Bra – Black, it’s £22.40 (with the code CATM20) and I’ve got a size 34HH, it’s available in 32-42 back sizes and C-J cups (it’s £28.00 full price).

The Statement Suspender – Black, it’s £16.00 (with my code CATM20) I got a size 2XL, it’s available in sizes Small-2XL and has different hook and eye adjusters (it’s £20.00 full price).

The Statement Thong – Black, it’s £9.60 (with that code CATM20) I’ve got the size 18, and it’s available in sizes 8-18 (it’s £12.00 full price).

This was featured in the August – Part 1 blog post, recently.

Here’s the whole Contradiction range link and again, there’s 6 items in the statement (sizes 8-20, 32-42 back sizes and B-J cups).

REVIEW TIME! Let’s start with Pour Moi‘s “Sea Breeze” collection bikini! As I’ve already mentioned, this comes in loads of varieties, but I fell in love with the Green/Black/Coral version, as I love the colours and pattern. I chose the Longline Underwired Top and the Fold Over Brief.

So, I am absolutely IN LOVE with this bikini.

The shape of the Longline Underwired Top is great and it’s really supportive and comfortable.

I usually prefer padded bras and bikinis for shape and support, and I was really pleasantly surprised by this!

I’m OBSESSED with the pattern and the colours 😍

The Fold Over Briefs are awesome. The sizing is spot on, and just the right amount of coverage, and the fold over bit hides my lower tummy, without being too high waisted.

If you have bottom heavy boobs and are more suited to plunge and balconette styles, I’d recommend sizing down in the cup in the one. My sister size is 36GG (34HH is my size) and it was a bit big on the cups as they’re 3/4 to full cups.

I went to the beach at the weekend (Sunday 13th September) and wore this, and it was just perfect!

I love wearing bright colours with my bright hair.

I’ll be posting some more photos of this bikini soon, check out my instagram.

Gorgeous bikini from the “Sea Breeze” collection

Next up, the “Remix” set, in “Champagne“.

This is, no word of a lie, THE comfiest bra I have ever owned or worn!!!

It’s a 3/4 cup style (it looks more full cup on me, due to the bottom heavy boobs as previously discussed).

The band is really quite stretchy and for me, as a size 16-20 wearing a 34HH, I find bras tend to be quite tight on my ribs and after years of wearing a 38E (thinking I needed a 40F) I’m still not used to wearing such tight bras (I think it’s been about 18 months since the I discovered the Boob or Bust measuring technique). This bra is just as supportive, but much MUCH more comfortable. The stretch lace edges mean is should suit all bust shapes.

From the “Remix” collection

I love the bow and teardrop shaped hole in the centre, and as I’ve already mentioned, it’s just SUPER comfortable. The top section of the bra is a light stretchy mesh and is sheer. The High Leg Briefs are really comfortable, and a mix of soft satin feel material and soft stretch lace.

Overall, I’m thoroughly impressed with this set. Really comfortable and functional, but pretty with lovely details. The fit is fantastic, and I love it!!

And last, but by no means least, the Statement set from “Contradiction by Pour Moi

Statement Underwired Bra, £22.40 (with the code CAT20)

The set is just gorgeous 🖤 I love the layered lace detail, with the mesh detail and the cute metal centre pieces. I really like that you can adjust the sides on thong, it has adjustable straps like mini bra strap adjusters.

It’s perfect under a scoop or v-neck top with the cage detail, and I think it would look great under a sheer or mesh top too.

Here’s the whole Contradiction range link and again, there’s 6 items in the statement (sizes 8-20, 32-42 back sizes and B-J cups).

My August Box was a hit! Two excellent sets of underwear, that are really versatile, pretty and comfortable; and a bikini that’s just perfect.

All the items have been gifted, so this is an ad, but all the opinions are my own and honest!

Blue Vanilla / Blue Vanilla Curve

A little review of three Blue Vanilla pieces I got. They are from their Curve Collection and I adore themmmmm. As always, any writing in blue is a link 🖤

First up, we have the beautiful Maizie, which is currently in the sale, for just £15! It’s available in UK sizes 8-28. Sizes 8-16 is “MAIZIE ASYMMETRIC WRAP DRESS” and sizes 18-28 is “MAIZIE CURVE ASYMMETRIC WRAP DRESS“.

I adore the abstract, black and white, animal prints

I’m a size 18/20 according to Blue Vanilla’s size guide, but as I often get a size 16/18 in clothes (I like things fitted, and my waist is a little on the smaller side) I went with the size 18. It’s a generous fit, and the material is delightful (94% Polyester, 6% Elastane). It’s lightweight and stretchy, with a soft shiny feeling fabric. It’s sort of ribbed and just feels awesome.

Cannot stop swishing in it

It’s a wrap dress, and it’s a deep v-neck, and it has 3/4 length sleeves. It’s exactly what I want and need in a dress AND THEN it’s got a funky asymmetric hem?! Just fabulous.

My arms and bust often put me at a size 20/22 in fitted clothes, but as this is stretchy, generous and open at the front, it’s perfect. To be honest, if I was trying this on in a shop, I’d have probably got a size 16, as I like my clothes a little more fitted (just personal preference) and it is quite stretchy. However, as you can see from the photos, it’s not too big at all and it is form fitting in places. I’d say it’s true to size.

I think it’s a really versatile dress, simple enough for casual wear and unusual enough to dress up!

It’s going to be so perfect for autumn 🍁 🍂

Next up, we have Abby, the “CURVE DIAMANTE BATWING TOP” for £22.00. It’s available in black or champagne. They’re available in sizes 18/20, 22/24 and 26/28.

This feels incredible too (95% Polyester, 5% Elastane)! It’s really soft and shiny feeling, and the material has tiny ribbing in it. How cute is the diamante detail?!

I think this would look amazing on a night out with some nice jeans, maybe even tucked in at the front.

Why is it so hard to say thank you? How to accept compliments.

There’s lots of reasons why we can find it hard to accept compliments.

* If you don’t believe what the person is saying…
* If you’ve been brought up to be humble…
* If your self-esteem isn’t great…
* If you don’t want to come across as “big headed”…
* If you don’t agree with the compliment…

If it makes you feel very awkward and cringe inside when someone pays you a compliment, and you’d like to be better at it… read on.

The short and simple answer is say “thank you”. But, there’s lots of reasons why you might find it difficult to say thank you, and there’s also lots of reasons why it’s impossible to keep your mouth shut after those two little words.

Do you catch yourself over explaining? When someone says “I like your top”, do you reply with:
– “oh god, no! This is just the only thing that fits me right now”
– “oh, do you really, I wasn’t sure if the colour is a bit meh”
– “it was in the sale! It’s just a cheap thing”
– “oh, I wish I’d worn something else”
– “WHAT? This old thing! It’s gross”
– “Urgh, it’s so old, I need new clothes”
– “oh, I just threw this on”

If you struggle to accept compliments, how do you usually respond when someone compliments you? Do you dismiss them? Argue? Disagree? Imagine for a moment, I’m paying you a compliment right now: I like the colour of your eyes! What would you say back to me?

Let’s now take a moment to switch this around, imagine for a few seconds that you are complimenting someone else. Perhaps, telling someone you like their hair, you think a facial feature is pretty, you think they’re good at something, you like an item of their clothing, or just simply that they look nice today. Now plug in how you would respond to that compliment.

You say something like “you look nice”, and they say “no, I don’t”. Does that feel a bit rude? A bit hurtful? Like they’re implying you’ve lied? Would it make you feel insecure about your taste?! Maybe even make you feel stupid for saying anything in the first place.

Can you recall a time when you’ve paid someone a compliment and they’ve been really pleased? Have you ever made someone’s day with a passing comment about liking something they’re wearing or the colour of something? Does that make you feel good? Imagine you see a lady in a beautiful flowing dress and you say, “I love that dress, wow! You look incredible” and she says “oh my gosh, thanks so much, I wasn’t sure about wearing it, as I thought it was ‘a bit much’ but I love it too, thank you” and then she walks away with a spring in her step and a smile on her face. Would that give you the warm and fuzzies?

This is a sneaky way around the awkwardness. Rather than focus internally, focus externally. If you argue with someone, or you are dismissive or mean… How will that make the other person feel? If you accept the compliment, and show them that you’re pleased with what they’ve said… How would that make them feel?

The simplest solution is to just practise saying “thank you” and stop talking. But, just ask yourself how would you like someone to respond if you paid them the same compliment.

Pour Moi – August Box – Part 1

My first box of Pour Moi items arrived earlier this month and I was absolutely thrilled!! Here’s my previous blog post about it. By the way, anything in blue writing is a link 💙

Here’s the unboxing video on YouTube 🖤

My discount code is CATM20 and that gives you 20% off all full priced items on the Pour Moi website.

Box arrival day

First things first, the box and packaging was just beautiful! They arrived in a special gift box as I’m part of the #TeamPourMoi Ambassador-ship programme.

My August Box

All the items have been gifted, so this is an ad, but all the opinions are my own and honest!

My August Choices

Let’s start with the chemise from the Rebel Collection. As part of the August selection process, we were asked to choose something from the Rebel Collection, and the chemise was the only item available in my size (size 18 and 34HH). As you can see above on the left it looks flipping gorgeous and there’s a slightly different chemise in red too!

The Rebel Back Lace Chemise – Black is just £25.60 (with the code CATM20) I got a size 18, it’s available in sizes 8-18 (it’s £32.00 full price)

Unfortunately, I just felt that I didn’t do the chemise from the Rebel Collection justice, as it doesn’t have any support in the bust area. It actually fit really nicely, but without a bra underneath, it’s NSFW 🤣

As I want to post as much as possible on my instagram, I decided to swap it for another item (of course they’ll be another post about the other choices very soon!).

The gorgeous sheer lace detail

I think this chemise is utterly gorgeous, and to be honest, if I didn’t need/want to take tonnes of photos of it (i.e.: if I’d have bought it for myself); I would have kept it. It’s stunning, especially with the lace back detail and the material is a really soft and a light stretchy (viscose type feel) material.

Next up, the Stripe Cross Front Control Swimsuit – Navy, which is £30.40 (with the code CATM20) I got a size 18, and it’s available in sizes 10-22 (it’s £38.00 full price).

So, the swimming costume was divine, but unfortunately not the right sort of shape for my boob shape – read loose skin. In swimwear, I like to pull my boobs in for projection and to create cleavage, however, the deep plunging v-shaped wrap pressed in to my boobs, as they are quite bottom heavy and I have loose skin. I noticed it was a smidge gape-y above my boobs by my underarms because of this too. But, I just had to move my boobs down and out to put them in the swimsuit, and personally, I prefer to move them up and in!

It also has a deep scoop back, which is utterly stunning and bang on trend; but, I’m really quite self-conscious about my back fat and rolls, so I felt a bit ill at ease in it.

It actually fit completely perfectly! It was digging in a smidge on my hip dips. But, no shade on this swimsuit, it’s absolutely gorgeous. I just decided to choose something different, as I want to be able to get as many photos as possible for my instagram.

Check out all swimwear (available in sizes 8-22, 30-44 back sizes and B-J cups).

Finally, last and by no means least, I got a Statement set from “Contradiction by Pour Moi” and it is just perfect! There’s 6 different options in the “statement” collection, two different bras, two different briefs, a suspender belt and a bodysuit 👌🏻

A lingerie set from the Statement collection

I’ve got three items from the sultry Statement collection from the “Contradiction by Pour Moi” collection.

I’ve got:

Statement Underwired Bra – Black, it’s £22.40 (with the code CAT20)

The set is just gorgeous 🖤 it fits utterly perfectly, and I love the lace detail, the mesh detail and the cute metal circles. It’s a super sexy set. I particularly like that you can adjust the thong, it has adjustable sides like the suspender straps (like mini bra strap adjusters).

Here’s the whole Contradiction range link and again, there’s 6 items in the statement (sizes 8-20, 32-42 back sizes and B-J cups).
